Glasgow Basket Hilt Sword
Order Code: SW6

This is a typical example of a "Glasgow" pattern basket hilt broadsword that was dominant throughout the Jacobite period. This beautifully crafted hilt is hot forged from steel that is elegantly ornamented with triple fullering throughout the barwork using many of the traditional methods from the 18th Century. The solid oak grip has steel ferrules and is wrapped in blue-grey rayskin with spiral copper wire bindings. A leather liner covered either side with thick red cloth adorns the inside of the hilt.

Made from silicon manganese spring steel that is hardened and tempered to 52-54 Rockwell C.
